Souvlaki Greek Skewers
a fast-casual restaurant
There were two challenges with this restaurant’s website:
First, overcoming the hurdle of getting customers to properly spell the Greek restaurant’s name (specifically the word ‘Souvlaki’ is a tough one) on a Google or Bing search.
Second, we wanted to successfully market ethnic Greek-named food to a predominately English-speaking non-Greek neighborhood.
Our solutions…
First, we created two Domain names (one having an easy-to-remember spelling) that sends visitors to the same website.
Second, we placed an emphasis on the delicious food with photo close-ups on an over-sized homepage slider and provided a short story behind featured dishes. We also incorporated a visitor sign-up link so the restaurant can gradually build an email list and push future specials to regular customers.
Finally, we integrated a mobile version of the site for smart phones. When accessing the site via mobile phone, visitors are immediately presented the menu and have the opportunity to order via a ‘tap-to-call’ feature from their cell phone <— the mobile menu also turned out to be a life-saver for the restaurant one day when they ran out of paper menus during an unexpectedly large rush.
